Colibrys has decided to establish direct sales channels for its high stability, high shock MEMS accelerometers in North America

In doing so Colibrys has ended its agreement with Honeywell who had distributed the product under the Honeywell brand name flex ASA7000 since July 2001. Sean Neylon, CEO of Colibrys said, "Our family of high shock accelerometers have established themselves as best-in-class for existing and emerging defence and aerospace inertial navigation systems.

The products are already being designed into many infantry, missile and smart weapon programmes.

We have come to the conclusion that all our US customers and applications will benefit from direct support from Colibrys.

The decision to establish our own direct sales network is a rational consequence of the success that our US customers are having in adopting our products".

Jim Aberson, Business Development Manager of Colibrys added, "Having an alliance with an American distributor for our standard products was a good initial step.

More recently we have seen that many of our customers demand the benefits of direct sales and sometimes semi-customisation of our standard products.

In order to maximise our competitive position in the marketplace and to resolve competitive supply conflicts, we have decided to use our own direct sales team in North America.

We will be in direct contact with all our customer base in the coming weeks to ensure the smooth transition of the business from Honeywell to the Colibrys US sales team".
