Conduant Corporation has announced the StreamStor Serial Front Panel Data Port mezzanine board for long distance, high speed, data capture from Serial FPDP or other optical fibre data protocols

Conduant Corporation, developer of direct-to-disk, long duration recording and playback systems, has announced the StreamStor SFPDP (Serial Front Panel Data Port) mezzanine board for long distance, high speed, data capture from Serial FPDP or other optical fibre data protocols. When combined with Conduant's StreamStor Amazon SATA disk controller, real time data input performance exceeds 500 megabytes per second, the highest speed available today for defence, scientific research and instrumentation applications.

For use with compatible StreamStor controllers, the StreamStor SFPDP Mezzanine Board features four independent optical fibre interface ports for simultaneous data input and output available on each port.

With data rate and wavelength options, the board can support cable lengths up to 25kms.

'Serial FPDP is rapidly becoming the interconnect of choice for streaming data capture systems because it is a protocol optimised for maximum data rates and minimum overhead'.

'It efficiently accommodates many applications requiring great distances between the data input site and data processing stations,' said Ken Owens, CEO of Conduant.

'By combining the StreamStor SFPDP Mezzanine board with StreamStor storage controllers, we are providing our customers with a highly reliable and sustainable high speed data recording and playback solution'.

The StreamStor SFPDP Mezzanine Board exceeds the ANSI/VITA 17.1-2003 specification with sustained rates of 300 MB/second (3.125 gigabytes per second).

Wavelength options include 850 nm (nanometers) and 1300nm for distances up to 25kms.

Data rates range from 1.06 to 3.125Gbps on each of the four ports.

The mezzanine board supports multi-port recording whether bonded or independent.

It is field upgradeable and features customisable hardware.

The StreamStor Amazon SATA Disk Controller provides a powerful and flexible data interface system based on Conduant's unique modular mezzanine architecture.

It is the only disk solution that allows a choice from a variety of COTS I/O options and utilises a wide range of popular interface options such as FPDP, Serial FPDP, FPDP II, LVDS or the PCI bus for direct-to-disk recording.

StreamStor Amazon features over 400MBytes/s of sustained performance.

In addition, it includes unique features such as data forking, and circular buffer recording for today's most demanding applications.
