Disk controller doubles acquisition speed
The StreamStor Amazon SATA disk controller features sustained performance of better than 400Mbyte/s - more than twice the speed of earlier StreamStor controllers.
The Ariane 5 is designed with two solid boosters, a main cryogenic stage, called EPC, and a storable propellant upper stage.
The EPC is left on a controlled re-entering orbit after its burnout to avoid any risks of uncontrolled, re-entry over inhabited areas.
In order to improve the re-entry model and to more accurately characterise the physical phenomena that occur during re-entry, CNES (the French aerospace agency) on behalf of ESA, decided to conduct observation missions of the EPC re-entry.
