Conduant Corporation, the leading developer of direct-to-disk, long duration recording and playback systems, has announced the StreamStor PXIe-416, a high speed real time data recording system that supports the ultra-fast PXI Express environment. The StreamStor PXIe-416 supports PXI Express products for exponential performance improvements over older instrumentation measurement and automation architectures. The StreamStor PXIe-416 is a 3U PXI-Express card with 4-lane endpoint connectivity to the host PXI-Express fabric.

It can record at a 600 MB/second sustained rate for more than 3-1/2 hours.

The StreamStor PXIe-416 supports more than 8 terabytes of storage attached as four separate StreamStor DM4 data modules with a total of sixteen 500 GB disk drives.

The PXI Express standard increases controller-to-backplane bandwidth and broadens the application set for PXI data acquisition allowing StreamStor to perform to its full potential.

Applications can include recording RF signals in the field for later playback and analysis in a lab and high-speed image acquisition.

'The StreamStor PXIe-416 expands Conduant's line of PXI high speed digital data recording solutions,' said Ken Owens, CEO of Conduant.

'We have effectively tripled the performance of our PXI recorders by incorporating the PXI Express standard'.

'The StreamStor PXIe-416 opens up countless high speed, high bandwidth data acquisition opportunities for our research, government and defence customers'.

The StreamStor PXIe-416 records and/or plays back as peer-to-peer transfers within the PXI-Express fabric, thus eliminating contention with non-real-time elements of the computer system.

It is compatible with the standard StreamStor API and software utilities.

Additional features of the StreamStor PXIe-416 include: simultaneous recording of streams from multiple data sources within the PXI-Express fabric by a single StreamStor data recorder; simultaneous playback of recorded data to multiple destinations in the PXI-Express fabric from a single StreamStor data recorder; simultaneous recording and playback; and event marking via the PXI Real-Time System Integration bus (RTSI).

The StreamStor PXIe-416 will be available in Q1 2007.

Pricing will be announced at that time.
