Bluetooth chip keeps headsets in tune
The BlueCore3-Multimedia chip is being used by i.Tech Dynamic for a new Bluetooth stereo headset that enables users to receive phone calls while listening to music on their wireless headphones

BlueCore3-Multimedia is at the heart of GG Telecom's award-winning GGBlu stereo Bluetooth headset
The headset, named 'i.Tech Clip S' was recently launched in both Hong Kong and Japan and worldwide distribution is planned for the coming months. Unlike most Bluetooth headsets, the i.Tech Clip S can wirelessly connect to a Bluetooth mobile phone and a music player simultaneously. When the user receives a phone call the device will automatically mute the sound and connect to the mobile phone.
At the end of the call the original sound connection will resume automatically.
The headset also allows the user to dial or redial the last number called via voice command, if supported by the phone.
Most Bluetooth headphones do not offer this feature because they cannot reliably support multiple simultaneous connections.
The i.Tech Clip S is supplied with a plug-and-play Bluetooth USB dongle that turns any Windows 2000 or XP PC into a wireless music player, without requiring any new software on the PC.
CSR's BlueCore3-Multimedia silicon has enabled wireless stereo design to move from concept to mainstream products.

Bluetooth chip enables stylish headset
CSR's BlueCore silicon is the critical technology behind iCombi's new Bluetooth stereo headset, the AH10
The Bluetooth hardware is a true single-chip that integrates 8Mbit Flash memory, an internal 16bit stereo audio codec and 24bit DSP coprocessor into an extremely small form factor, reducing BOM to a minimum.
The efficient DSP based architecture enables a power consumption of less than 100mW when streaming music.
Alternative solutions, which use relatively inefficient RISC microcontrollers to decompress music, cannot come close to this figure.
In addition to the on-chip DSP, the BlueCore3-Multimedia silicon incorporates standard features of v1.2 Bluetooth many of which are focused on improving the audio quality of a Bluetooth transmission.
Extended SCO (eSCO) ensures that no parts of the voice or music transmission are dropped, and adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) reduces the risk of signal interference with other radio devices.
General Manager of i.Tech, Patrick Tsang commented: 'CSR is the world leader in Bluetooth technology so they were the natural choice for us'.
'Our new stereo headset clip combines the joy of wireless music with the convenience of never missing a call'.
'CSR's BlueCore solution made it possible for us to include this feature and to ensure the headset has excellent battery life'.
Luke D'Arcy, Product Marketing Manager at CSR, commented: 'Through engineering skill and industrial design flair i.Tech has produced one of the most compelling Bluetooth stereo headsets yet'.
'BlueCore3-Multimedia offers high-quality performance in a small, low cost format which can be easily integrated into the smallest headset designs'.
'I don't like missing calls while I'm listening to music so I'm delighted to see that i.Tech is using BlueCore to the full and enabling multiple device connectivity'.
