The popular Cadence Encounter digital IC design platform now runs on 64bit Intel Xeon processor-based systems with Linux to deliver higher performance and increased capacity for large designs

Cadence Design Systems has ported the popular Cadence Encounter digital IC design platform onto 64bit Intel Xeon processor-based systems with Linux to deliver higher performance and increased capacity for large designs. The latest releases of Encounter RTL compiler synthesis and SoC Encounter Global Physical Synthesis (GPS) RTL-to-GDSII system, now includes support for this port, as well as other feature enhancements.

The Intel Xeon processor is compatible with 32 and 64bit designs and ensures a flexible, consistent and scalable computing and design environment.

'We are excited to see the support of the Cadence Encounter platform for 64bit Intel Xeon processor-based systems delivering world-class computing performance', said Guru Bhatia, IT Engineering Computing Director, Intel Corp.

'We continue to work closely with Cadence to deliver optimum performance of their applications on Intel computing platforms'.

'Our leading-edge system-on-chip (SoC) customers are focused on integrating vast amounts of logic into 90 and 65nm silicon ahead of their competitors', said Eric Filseth, Vice President of Product Marketing, IC Implementation for Cadence.

'The combination of the Encounter platform's capabilities for complex designs and the 64bit Intel Xeon processor's enormous performance and capacity is a natural fit for these very large-scale designs'.

'We're pleased with the results of this ongoing relationship'.

Encounter RTL Compiler and SoC Encounter GPS support for Intel's 64bit Xeon processor-based systems are available now.
