Cadence philosophical about Plato acquisition
Cadence Design Systems is to acquire Plato Design Systems, a privately held design technology firm headquartered in San Jose, California
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. NanoRoute, Plato's advanced, scalable routing solution, improves designers' productivity for implementing future generation SoC designs. NanoRoute will augment the advanced capabilities of Cadence SoC Encounter to enable designers to meet deep submicron challenges in timing, signal integrity, power, run time and capacity.

"The Plato acquisition brings Cadence an outstanding technical team that has developed a powerful, complementary technology", said Ray Bingham, president and CEO of Cadence.
"The combination of Cadence SoC Encounter with Plato's next-generation SoC routing technology will provide our customers an even more compelling integrated electronic design solution".
On completion of the acquisition, Cadence will integrate the NanoRoute technology into the SoC Encounter product family.

All 24 Plato employees will become part of Cadence, reporting to Ping Chao, Cadence senior vice president and general manager of Digital IC Solutions.
