Buffalo Technology has enhanced its range of wireless networking products with the addition of a combined wireless access point and four port-switching hub (router)

A basic router model is also available giving shared wired connectivity to the Internet, with an option to upgrade to wireless later. The AirStation local router model (WLAR-L11G-L) can be used with a CATV or a DSL modem to provide shared Internet access as well as allowing multiple users to share the wired and wireless network.

It is the world's first wireless access point that allows multiple LAN connections as well as a CATV or DSL wireless connection simultaneously.

The wired and wireless LANs are connected via an integrated four-port 10/100Mbit/s switch in the unit.

The switch is auto sensing and has AUTO-MDIX, which automatically adjusts for straight-through or crossover cables.

The WLAR-L11G-L AirStation provides Internet sharing using NAT (network address translation).

On the wireless side it supports several security features including 128 or 40bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) and Mac address restriction.

It also offers improved security using a packet filtering function.

This powerful IP address port number filtering system functions as a firewall protection.

Compatibility with other wireless LAN products is assured because the WLAR-L11G-L AirStation is Wi-Fi certified.

The built in DHCP server function enables easy configuration even in mixed networks.

Accessories include an external antenna and wall mount kit.
