Comprehensive choice of power resistors promise industry-leading thermal and RF performance in densely populated circuits.

BI Technologies has a range of noninductive resistors housed in popular TO-style packages that deliver higher power with enhanced thermal performance.

The MHP and SMHP Series are available in TO-126, TO-220, TO263 and TO-247 packages, with power ratings from 20 to 140W providing designers with a comprehensive choice of power resistors with industry leading thermal and RF performance in densely populated circuits.

As the thermal conductivity of resistor packaging is increasingly recognised as vital in the successful design of high power applications, BI Technologies has launched the resistors to provide an industry-leading low thermal impedance product packaged in a way that does not limit design.

The resistive element and the integral metal flange of the TO-style packages gives design engineers the ability to specify them for higher than normal wattage power electronics circuits without the need for complex thermal management during operation.

The four TO-style package types are all rated for operation from -55 to +155C with resistance ranges from 10mohm to 51kohm.

In addition, all of the resistors boast tolerances as low as +/-1%, and TCRs from 50ppm/C.

The MHP Series resistors feature thermally enhanced two-leaded industry standard packages designed for mounting directly to a heatsink.

All MHP Series devices are RoHS-compliant, with military and aerospace specification devices still available, and are compatible with high temperature soldering processes normally employed for lead free solders.

BI Technologies will also produce custom made devices to different specifications in line with customer requirements, such as higher power and pulse durability, with comprehensive application engineering and design support available for customers worldwide.

According to John Mackay, Managing Director of BI Technologies: "As packaging design becomes a central consideration in attempting to make significant advances in power electronics, it is vital that we are constantly evaluating the way we package our products to allow engineers freedom of design".

"The superior thermal performance and extreme power ratings of the MHP series makes the range ideally suited to switch-mode power supply circuits, motor control and drive circuits, automotive electronics, industrial power equipment and UPS systems".
