IP media processing platform enhanced
Aculab is pleased to announce that Prosody X, its IP media processing platform, has been enhanced with new functionality
Aculab, a leading provider of enabling technology for the global communications market, is pleased to announce that Prosody X, its IP media processing platform, has been enhanced with new functionality. This includes improvements to media processing, signalling, call control and security algorithms - which are interoperable with all existing versions of the hardware, including PCI, CompactPCI and PCI Express form factors.

Added media processing functionality includes: support for additional voice codecs utilised in VoIP and mobile network environments (iLBC, G.723.1A, G.726, G.728, G.729AB, GSM-FR, GSM-EFR, MS-GSM, AMR-NB, EVRC, SMV); transcoding from any codec to any codec; secure RTP for safe VoIP communications; and enhanced conferencing and echo cancellation algorithms.
In addition, Aculab has released a new Group 3 fax library supporting: B4 page sizes; optimised algorithms to achieve a higher T.30 fax channel count per card; V.34 modem for faster fax interactions; T.38 fax over IP relay and termination; and T.30 to T.38 gateway.
Signalling and call control enhancements to Prosody X include: secure SIP support (SIPS); symmetric RTP and STUN, required for firewall and NAT device traversal by SIP messages; SIP session timers; and subscribe/specific event notifications.
Aculab's SIP stack has been upgraded to include advanced redundancy and failover mechanisms required for support of high availability solutions.
The SS7 stack signalling capabilities now include SS7 monitoring, used for the creation of solutions compliant with the lawful intercept (LI/CALEA) regulations.

Additionally, a comprehensive support for digium|Asterisk open source software is now available for the Prosody X product line and a certification process for the Asterisk Business Edition product has been completed.
Commenting on the release of this added functionality, Herman Abel, Product Manager at Aculab, said, 'We have listened to and acted on customer feedback'.

The new functionality is now a part of the Prosody X software package.
It is available under a cost free licence and can be downloaded from Aculab's website.
