We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Transcoding", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Electronicstalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.
Start with the news release Transcoder turns PC into a multimedia gateway from Broadcom Corp, which we summarised at the time by saying "SoC enables users to transfer audio/video content in real-time across several classes of consumer devices to and from a PC". The same day, we featured the news release Professional encoder spans broadcast markets from Horizon Semiconductors: "Supports wide range of features and capabilities designed to meet the emerging requirements of the broadcast and professional encoding equipment markets".
In December 2007, we covered the news from Cypress Semiconductor concerning its EZ-USB FX2LP USB controller - take a look at USB controller drives H.264 reference designs which says: "The new Crusher and Crusher-Capture reference designs accelerate the H.264 video encoding process up to 5x faster than real time".
Take a look also at the news release from Texas Instruments (April 2006-), Dedicated DSP accelerates video transcoding, as well as Single-chip transcoder for consumer devices from Broadcom Corp, and SoC supports both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray codes from Horizon Semiconductors.
