VTech uses ARC core in cordless phones
VTech Communications is using ARC's microprocessor in its cordless phones
Chris Goodings, Manager of the IC Division in VTech Communications said: "ARC's microprocessor provides us with both the microcontroller and DSP capability in the same core. This is ideal because then we don't need two cores, simplifying the system-on-chip integration and the software development.

Combined with the ability to develop our own customised DSP extensions, this provides us with the advanced audio DSP processing required for the phone.
In addition, the ARC is fully synthesisable, giving our engineers full control over the integration of the processor core".
Mark Barrett, Engineering Director of VTech Communications Ltd, commented that this next generation of VTech's highly successful range of 900MHz wireless phones for the US market is expected to hit volume production in the second quarter of 2001.
He added that the previous generation of VTech's 900MHz cordless phones shipped around five million units last year.
Bob Terwilliger, CEO of ARC International, said, "We are pleased to announce VTech as a valuable addition to our list of blue chip licensees.
Their example shows how ARC's technology can enable designers to get more from simplifying their product designs".
