Available now from Applied Power Systems (APS) is the new SixPac series of high power SCR AC controllers and DC convertors. This series of rugged, compact power stages feature a great deal of flexibility and is designed for long life in heavy-duty industrial applications. The SixPac includes three dual isolated SCR modules that can be configured as either a three-phase AC controller or a regulated DC convertor.

Applications include solid-state motor starters, soft-starts/soft-stops, variable speed drives, regulated power supplies, and any other application that needs a compact and rugged source of power.

The isolated SCR modules are mounted on a high efficiency heatsink and are equipped with input fuses, snubbers, Hall effect current sensor, output bus, cooling fan and a capacitor filter bank (for regulated DC output).

The compact design measures only 18 x 10 x 11in.

The SixPac is available for input voltages from 10 to 700V AC (40 to 80Hz) and output currents from 50A DC to over 1000A DC or from 100 to 600A AC RMS per phase (as much as 750kW that can be easily held in two hands).

All units come with the company's industry proven AP-1950 SCR gate drive board and an RC snubber board.

The SixPac is designed and built to be a robust piece of electronic gear designed to withstand the severe mechanical and environmental conditions of industrial applications.

It is mounted on a base of 12-gauge cold rolled steel.

The AP1950 SCR gate drive board is conformal coated for moisture protection.
