Embedded media processing explained
A new book explores the impact of multimedia processing on embedded systems development, as well as its implications on the design community
'Embedded media processing' is the title of a new book by senior Analog Devices engineers David J Katz and Rick Gentile. Defined by Katz and Gentile as 'applications involving large media-based data blocks, a need for signal processing, and (often) a real-time nature', embedded media processing systems are at the heart of today's electronics revolution.

'Embedded media processing' explores the impact of multimedia processing on embedded systems development, as well as its implications on a design community typically more steeped in conventional systems based on microcontrollers (MCUs) or digital signal processors (DSPs).
Balancing design theory with real-life examples culled from extensive work with customers and the Analog Devices Blackfin Processor family, 'Embedded media processing' distinguishes itself as a true 'how-to' manual for embedded systems design.
'Both the experienced system designer and the student will find value in this comprehensive work', said Max Baron, Principal Analyst, In-Stat.

'More practical than a theoretical text, it's what an expert engineer would tell a peer embarking on the journey of embedded media processing'.
'Notably reader-friendly for a subject this complex, this book should give anyone access to multimedia design techniques including memory partitioning, data movement, and power considerations'.
'Embedded media processing' lists at $59.95, but is currently offered by the publisher Elsevier at a discounted rate of $47.96.
