Regulator boosts supplies
for display modules
The ADP3031 from Analog Devices is a 2MHz, step-up (boost) DC/DC switching regulator capable of up to a 12V output, and available in a space-saving MSOP-8 package
Its high operating frequency allows small external components to be used, reducing space and cost. Also, the device provides high-efficiency (greater than 90%) low-noise operation, and is easy to use. Operating within a 2.5 to 5.5V input range with an adjustable output that supports voltages down to 3V, the ADP3031 is flexible for many low- and high-voltage applications.

The ADP3031 is designed for TFT LCD modules, battery-powered equipment and a variety of industrial and instrumentation applications.
It provides users a highly accurate, stepped-up regulated output voltage, and a cost-effective, efficient power solution.
Other features include the pulse width modulation (PWM) current-mode control technique, which enables excellent dynamic response and ease of noise filtering; an integrated 1.5A power switch to reduce external component count; 3% output regulation over line, load and temperature to increase system accuracy; a shutdown mode to reduce quiescent current and save battery life; current limit and undervoltage lockout for circuit protection; and a space-saving surface mount package to reduce solution footprint and cost.
The ADP3031 is priced at $2.06 each in 1000 piece units and operates within the -40 to +85C temperature range.
