Free software simplifies
radio link design
Software assists users in evaluating, designing and troubleshooting short range radio communications devices using the ADF70xx family of SRD transmitters and transceivers
A new software package from Analog Devices eases the task of short range device (SRD) wireless link design and simulation. Available at no charge from ADI's website, SRD Design Studio assists users in evaluating, designing, and troubleshooting short range radio communications devices using Analog Devices' ADF70xx family of SRD transmitters and transceivers.

The ADF70xx products are optimised for use in automatic meter reading, industrial automation, security, home automation, remote controls and other low-power wireless network and telemetry applications.
SRD Design Studio's enhanced features eliminate time-consuming iterations from the design process to ensure products reach market faster.
SRD Design Studio allows designers to view multiple parameters simultaneously, in both the time and frequency domains, to enable rapid prototype development and design optimisation without the use of multiple spreadsheets and iterative lab work.
The software tool provides designers with FCC, ETSI and ARIB-compliant design templates for easy-to-use evaluation, customisation, and simulation.
'SRD Design Studio leverages our SRD expertise and online simulation tool leadership to take the guesswork out of wireless performance', says Christian Kermarrec, Vice President, RF and Wireless Systems, Analog Devices.

'As a natural extension of our cost-effective, low-power SRD transmitters and transceivers, designers using SRD Design Studio can quickly and efficiently conduct real-time simulations, test various configurations and troubleshoot potential problems when implementing short range wireless links in their design'.
SRD Design Studio allows designers to choose from three main simulations, including frequency domain, transient analysis and spectrum analyser.
By observing the behaviour of the wireless link within these parameters, designers obtain a real-time representation of the SRD frequency, sync detection, power consumption and radio link analysis.
Using the extremely powerful spectrum analyser, users can view modifications in frequency domain and compare for different modulation options, datarates, loop filters and other criteria.
SRD Design Studio offers a series of worksheets that assist designers in troubleshooting all key factors that are significant in affecting short range radio link performance.
These worksheets are especially effective for determining accurate simulation of spectrum, effects of modulation and phase noise, determination of regulatory compliance, modulation simulations and design of automatic synchronisation.
Designers who are not familiar with SRDs will benefit from the tool's ability to troubleshoot potential problems.
Analog Devices' ADF70xx SRD transmitters and ADF702x SRD transceivers are suitable for both licensed and unlicensed sub-1GHz frequency bands and provide high datarates and high link robustness.
The transmitters and transceivers are also supported by a variety of development tools including evaluation boards, protocol software, the popular ADIsimPLL circuit design and simulation software, antenna reference designs and the new SRD Design Studio.
