The cPCI-6860 is the world's first dual Low Voltage Intel Xeon processor-based 6U CompactPCI single-board computer. The cPCI-6860 supports state-of-the-art Intel Xeon processors up to 2.4GHz, as well as the Low Voltage Intel Xeon processor for power sensitive applications. The cPCI-6860 is also the industry's first CompactPCI board to use the Intel E7500 chipset, which supports up to 4GB of DDR-200 registered SDRAM with ECC capability.

Dual gigabit Ethernet ports, featured by the Intel 82546EB Gigabit Ethernet, provide high-speed communications channels required for fault tolerance and redundancy.
As a 32/64bit, 33/66MHz CompactPCI system board, the cPCI-6860 supports PICMG 2.16 packet switching backplane and PICMG 2.9 system management capabilities for high-end computing servers, telecommunication computers, and mission-critical applications.

The cPCI-6860 module is compliant with the CompactPCI base specification PICMG 2.0 and the PICMG 2.1 hot swap specification.
The cPCI-6860 is equipped with a rich set of peripherals, including two Gigabit Ethernet ports featured by Intel 82546EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller, one 10/100 Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, VGA, one serial port, keyboard port, and mouse port.
The high I/O capability of the cPCI-6860 can be enhanced with the addition of the cPCI-R6860 rear transition module.
The cPCI-R6860 adds support for high speed mass storage with an Ultra-160 SCSI interface, two additional Gigabit Ethernet ports by another Intel 82546EB Gigabit Ethernet controller provides total four Gigabit Ethernet throughput, two additional USB 2.0 ports, one serial port, a removable CompactFlash socket, and mounting holes for a 2.5in IDE hard drive or Flash drive.
The CPCI-6860's dual Xeon processors, quad Gigabit Ethernet ports and Ultra-160 SCSI interface are combined to provide the highest performance computing solution available today.
CPCI-6860 delivers ultimate performance and density for applications and services blades which handle billing, accounting, security-tracking in carrier-grade networking services and high-performance infrastructure equipments, such as media gateways, signalling gateways, streaming, BSC and RNC etc.
