InterVideo signs up for codec support
InterVideo has selected Coding Technologies' aacPlus v2 codec for its MPEG-4 video transceiver and editor server
InterVideo, a pioneer in advancing DVD and MPEG-multimedia software technologies, has selected Coding Technologies' aacPlus v2 codec for its MPEG-4 video transceiver and editor server. This software is already deployed by Media Socket for the mobile video ring tones and video sharing services offered on NTT DoCoMo's FOMA service.

Already standardised by MPEG and 3GPP, aacPlus v2 is AAC coupled with Coding Technologies' SBR (spectral band replication) and parametric stereo technologies.
SBR is a unique bandwidth extension technique, which enables audio codecs to deliver the same quality at half the bitrate.
Parametric stereo enhances the codec efficiency a second time for low-bitrate stereo signals.
Both SBR and parametric stereo are backward and forward compatible methods to enhance the efficiency of any audio codec.
As a result, aacPlus delivers streaming and downloadable 5.1 multichannel audio at 128Kbit/s, near CD-quality stereo at 32Kbit/s, excellent quality stereo at 24Kbit/s, and great quality for mixed content down to 16Kbit/s and below.
This level of efficiency fundamentally enables new applications in the markets of mobile and digital broadcast.
'Our MPEG-4 transcoding server software is the core of the Media Socket video editing software for ringtone services', said Shahab Layeghi, Embedded Applications Software Manager of InterVideo.
'Standardisations of aacPlus v2 by 3GPP has made it the common denominator codec in the industry, and we are excited to add this advanced technology into our product portfolio'.
'InterVideo has shown leadership in every product field they enter', said Victor Kanevsky, Senior Director of Strategic Alliances for Coding Technologies.
'We are thrilled that they have chosen our aacPlus v2 to be part of their new flagship product for the mobile market'.
