Low impedance capacitors take the heat
Specialist distributor, Young Electronics, has launched a new series of surface mount capacitors that boast low impedance and high heat capability.
They are capable of tolerating high operating temperatures as well as providing long life.
Lead-free versions are available.
Rated voltages for the CLA series range from 200 to 450V.
Capacitance values start at 1.5uF increasing in small steps to 220uF.
In all over 100 different part numbers make up the CLA series.
Case sizes (diameter by height) range from 10 x 12.5 to 18 x 25mm.
For many capacitance values designers are offered a choice of case size.
For example, a 22uF device with a 250V rating is available in 10 x 20 or 12.5 x 20mm cases, whereas a 33uF device with a 400V rating comes in either a 12.5 x 25 or 16 x 20mm case.
Operating temperature range is -40 to +105C for devices rated up to 400V DC and -25 to +105C for the 450V parts.
Operational life (load life) is up to 5kh at 105C.
