Xilinx PlanAhead 8.2 design planning and analysis software has received a 2007 DesignVision Award.

Xilinx PlanAhead 8.2 design planning and analysis software has received the prestigious DesignCon 2007 DesignVision award in the category of "Structured/platform ASIC, FPGA, and PLD design tools".

The intuitive hierarchical design and analysis solution was selected among a record number of competing products and technologies by independent industry experts representing the International Engineering Consortium (IEC).

This year's IEC Technical Programme Committee, which consisted of 96 of the industry's top thought leaders, judged finalists based on innovation, uniqueness, market impact, customer benefits and value to society.

The DesignVision Awards programme recognises new technologies, applications, products and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the industry.

Xilinx PlanAhead software extends the performance advantage of its high performance 65nm Virtex-5 platform FPGAs.

Xilinx PlanAhead software streamlines the steps between synthesis and place-and-route to give designers more control and insight into how designs are implemented to achieve design targets with fewer design iterations.

The tool allows designers to utilise a hierarchical design methodology to minimise routing congestion, simplify clocking and interconnect complexity, and explore implementation options.

Xilinx PlanAhead software also enables significant savings in cost, sise and power consumption by simplifying partial reconfiguration for Xilinx FPGAs.
