BI panel potentiometers used in dog training gear
BI Technologies has announced that its Model P160 panel potentiometers have been implemented in Tri-Tronics's electronic dog training equipment.
The ROHS-compliant rotary potentiometers have been specified for the Tri-Tronics Pro G3 Series e-collar remote control units, used by professional and amateur dog trainers.
Alain Leon, variable products marketing manager for BI Technologies, said: 'Tri-Tronics came to us with the challenge of outfitting their remote control units with a potentiometer that provided high uniform detent torque for each setting throughout the entire life cycle.' Dave Whetten, mechanical engineer for Tri-Tronics, said: 'With a 5 to 8oz-in rotational torque for each detent position over 100,000 cycles, the Model P160 rotary potentiometers provided the ideal solution for our remote control e-collar units.
'We received the first custom samples within 10 weeks, enabling us to efficiently implement the components into our devices.' The 16mm rotary potentiometers feature conductive plastic elements with metal bushings - multi-ganged versions are also available.
In addition to electronic dog training collars, the potentiometers are specified for use in electric guitar amp and foot pedal controls, and for other musical instrument accessory items.
Model P160 rotary potentiometers feature a resistance range of 500ohms to 1Mohm and standard tolerance to +/-20 per cent.
Maximum input voltage is 200V AC and dielectric strength is 500V AC.
Operating temperature range is -20 to +70C.
BI Technologies will produce devices outside these specifications to meet customer requirements.
