Metal film resistors offer long-term precision

TT electronics Welwyn Components now offers a range of resistive products tailored to precision applications.

The RC and CAR series of precision metal film resistors offers tight tolerances and low TCRs over a wide resistance range and are suitable for applications where long-term stability is paramount.

Regardless of their digital sophistication, sensing and measurement systems depend on the stability and precision of their analogue sections.

John Graham, marketing and Sales Director, Welwyn Components, said: "A key parameter of the RC and CAR series is the defined low total excursion on resistance value over the life of the product, including storage, solder processing, temperature fluctuations and environmental stress".

"The ability to define total excursion gives us the confidence to state that these precision ranges outperform competitor equivalents".

With resistance tolerances down to +/-0.05%, the RC series features low noise, +/-5parts per million/C temperature coefficient and negligible voltage coefficient.

The CAR series shares these qualities and extends the tolerance to +/-0.01%.

Both are sealed in a high-grade epoxy coating giving typical 12-month low power drifts of +/-0.03% for the RC and just +/-30parts per million for the CAR.

For bridges or networks where ratio precision is required, a matching service is available.

Using CAR, this offers ratio tolerance to +/-50parts per million and TCR tracking to +/-1parts per million/C.

Applications include precision balances, test and measurement equipment, process control and medical systems such as ECG monitors and in-vitro analysis products.

In addition, with optional release to CECC40101-004 or -804, the RC series is suitable for high reliability military, avionics and space applications.

These precision metal film resistors offer power ratings from 0.25 to 1W at 70C ambient.
