SL-Smart 5.0X PCB PIN headers can make a significant contribution to continuous SMT production processes.
The SL-Smart 5.0X pin header's patented design features meet an extensive number of PCB application requirements with minimal amount of product stockholding, and by matching both 5.00 and 5.08mm pitches with one unit.
The SL-Smart 5.0X pin header uses two- and three-pole modules in 180-degree vertical and 90-degree horizontal designs to create up to 92 variations in input configuration from just four pin headers.
This is enabled by Weidmuller's patented self-alignment design guides on each module that ensure precision automated placement of the two- and three-pole modules to assemble the specified number of poles.
Additionally, the SL-Smart 5.0X accommodates both 5.00 and 5.08mm pitches in the single module, so that the corresponding socket block from Weidmuller's Omnimate range can be selected to either 5.00 or 5.08mm pitch as specified.
The SL-Smart 5.0X design and packaging has been optimised to be completely compatible with SMT pick and place or collect and place techniques, with tape-on-reel packaging to IEC286-3.
The modules are all designed with minimal weight, height and length to facilitate easy manipulation and automatic assembly techniques.
The short 1.5mm pin lengths of the SL-Smart 5.0X assist in double-sided PCB assembly methods, need minimal solder paste and have an integrated standoff for a paste free space at minimum height; the optimised pin ends are suitable for optical recognition systems.
The insulator is made from halogen-free liquid crystal polymer, which is temperature resistant up to 260C and, is not only suitable for all current Reflow soldering techniques, but is also ideal for lead-free soldering.
