Wavesat's UMobile products were among the WiMAX technologies that were submitted for the PlugFest that took place at the AT4 wireless labs in Spain last week.

Last week Wavesat took part in the WiMAX Forum's second public Mobile PlugFest.

Wavesat's UMobile products were among the WiMAX technologies that were submitted for the PlugFest that took place at the AT4 wireless labs in Malaga, Spain from 11th to 17th February 2007.

This Mobile PlugFest provides an opportunity for WiMAX companies to test interoperability of basestations and end user devices prior to entering the official WiMAX Forum certification process scheduled for mid-year.

"These events are crucial to help the industry get ready for the introduction of Mobile WiMAX in the next 2-3 years while Fixed WiMAX is being deployed today", commented Frank Draper, VP Strategic Development of Wavesat.

"On the fixed side, our clients have access to an impressive ecosystem of partners and powered by Wavesat solutions around our 802.16d-2004 Evolutive portfolio".

"We are committed to the same level of interoperability with our UMobile portfolio".

Wavesat's 802.16e Mobile product strategy centres around its UMobile family of WiMAX chipsets supporting all features of Mobile WiMAX Wave 2 profiles in a cost effective, flexible and highly programmable architecture.

"With more than 30 companies participating in this latest mobile WiMAX Forum PlugFest, there is strong momentum and a clear commitment by the WiMAX ecosystem", said Ron Resnick, President and Chairman of the WiMAX Forum.

"By the contributions of Wavesat and the other PlugFest participants, these WiMAX Forum interoperability events continue to show a significant leap ahead with maturity of mobile WIMAX products".

"Additionally, the experience gained at these PlugFests is critical to improve quality of interoperability testing and to maintain our accelerated path to WiMAX Forum Certification".

Wavesat's award-winning and WiMAX Forum Certified WiMAX product portfolio supports both basestations and subscriber units for licensed and license-exempt radio frequencies.

Wavesat provides a full-range of standards-based integrated circuits, software, and development platforms supporting IEEE802.16-2004 and 802.16e-2005 standards.

Featuring the industry's only WiMAX Mini-PCI card and chosen by ODMs and OEMs worldwide, Wavesat's WiMAX portfolio provides effective wireless connectivity for a wide range of network sizes and coverage from urban to rural applications.
