The Direct Rambus DRAM devices fabricated at Elpida Memory's plant in Hiroshima, Japan, are lead-free 288Mbit 2.5V FBGA devices, and are available in 800 and 1066MHz speeds.
In addition to supplying OEM customers with these discrete Elpida Memory devices, Viking InterWorks will continue to support a complete Direct Rambus-based memory module product line that includes SORIMM and NexMod modules.
'This arrangement with Elpida Memory for discrete Direct Rambus DRAM enables Viking InterWorks to provide the critical memory support that our high-performance networking OEM customers require into the next decade', says Adrian Proctor, Vice President of Marketing for Viking InterWorks.
'As Intel continues to ramp production of the Intel IXP2800 network processor at multiple, worldwide tier-one OEMs, Viking InterWorks' Rambus DRAM products establish a long-term manufacturing support which is integral for the deployment of this technology', says Frank Schapfel, Product Line Manager of Intel's Embedded and Communication Group.
