'Systems engineering - fast track' is aimed at graduate-level engineers and will provide insights into the overall systems engineering process as well as methods and tools that support this process

The University of Oxford Electronics and Telecoms Programme offers a new course in systems engineering. The course, 'Systems engineering - fast track', is aimed at graduate-level engineers and will provide insights into the overall systems engineering process as well as methods and tools that support this process.

Participants can expect to: reach higher CMMI levels; improve in the areas of requirements management, system modelling and the systems-engineering process; improve the performance of team in an efficient manner; and update their knowledge on systems engineering.

The five-day course looks at the systems-engineering process and database, systems modelling including UML 2.0 and SysML, systems integrity, the human face of systems engineering and integration with other key disciplines.

To complement the methods of systems engineering, the course includes a practical look at various industry software tools including Doors and Artisan.

The course is taught by the well-known systems-engineering practitioner Dr Rob Collins, who has worked for many years 'at the coal-face', improving processes, introducing tools and methods and providing staff training.

Collins is a respected presenter in the field of systems engineering and has presented in the UK, Europe and in the USA.

This newly developed course is based on Dr Collins' 20 years of experience in systems engineering and draws current state-of-the-art knowledge in the field.

The systems engineering week takes place in Oxford from 10th to 14th July 2006.
