An ultra-low-profile surface mount tactile switch is the latest addition to the Alcoswitch range.

An ultra-low-profile surface mount tactile switch is the latest addition to the Alcoswitch range from Tyco Electronics.

The new FSM 0.5mm slimline tactile switch has very small dimensions of 4.8 x 4.8 x 0.55mm and very short travel of the actuator, making it comfortable to operate.

Offering a very slim design and clear tactile feedback, the new tactile switch meets key requirements for miniature sized applications in electronic devices such as mobile phones, radios, pagers, remote control units, computer mice, satellite receivers and MP3 players, to name but a few.

An actuation force of only 1.6N, a minimum life expectancy of 500,000 cycles and an operating temperature range from -20 to +70C are further features of the new device.

FSM 0.5mm slimline tactile switches are packaged in tape and reel format and high volumes are available at short lead-times.
