Mobile platform set
for graphics upgrade
Hybrid Graphics and TTPCom are working to pre-integrate Hybrid's 3D graphics and SVG-T scalable vector graphics technologies into TTPCom's Ajar mobile application platform
As a result, customers using Ajar will be able to bring cost-effective multimedia phones with 3D and 2D graphics capabilities to the market quickly and with minimal software engineering effort. 3D graphics capability will grow in importance as the mobile gaming industry's growth accelerates.

The research firm, Strategy Analytics has recently observed a significant increase in the confidence of the mobile gaming market and expects it to grow six-fold over the next five years.
Many operators are supporting this growth by specifying handsets with 3D gaming functionality in order to boost average revenue per user figures.
Furthermore, the inclusion of the increasingly popular SVG-T technology allows handset designers to deliver animated user interfaces, screen savers and background images that match the exciting graphics available for mobile games.

Systems integrator adds expertise to ecosystem
TietoEnator, one of Europe's largest IT and software services providers, has joined the Ajar platform ecosystem
'Most new handsets have a lifespan of only a few months, driven by constant consumer and operator demands for the next new thing', says Panu Wilska, Hybrid's VP of Sales.
'Consequently the faster the latest functionality, such as 3D graphics and SVG-T can be brought to market, the greater the earnings potential for both parties'.
'The pre-integration of our 3D graphics technology into Ajar will enable many more handset manufacturers to maximise the potential of the mobile gaming market as it continues to grow'.
Morten Iversen, Director, Partnership Programmes at TTPCom adds: 'Hybrid's 3D and 2D graphics solutions are the most effective on the market today'.
'They complement the existing technologies already pre-integrated in our Ajar platform, including MMS, Java applications, polyphonic ringtones and text recognition to provide choice, cost effective development and rapid times to market for future generations of feature phones'.
The introduction of open graphics standards is changing the face of mobile content development considerably.
Open standards make the business more accessible to a large variety of companies, as opposed to the situation where proprietary technologies limited the amount of players able to develop or sell their content to both device manufacturers and consumers.
With a more open and accessible content market, operators will have richer, more appealing content and services available.
