Lars Brenk, senior software developer, of TTPCom has today been elected to the prestigious role of chairman of the 3GPP Mobile Execution Environment (MExE) sub-working group

The committee sets down the rules and guidelines relating to the security of downloading applications into mobile devices. Based at TTPCom's Aalborg, Denmark office Brenk explained: "I have been working with the group for a number of years and I am delighted to now be selected as chairman".

He continued: "As companies begin to roll out more and more mobile applications the MExE group will play a vital role in seeing that security is not compromised.

I am looking forward to playing my part in this influential committee".

MExE defines an official set of rules and guidelines regarding the security of GSM functionality in mobile handsets, especially in popular application execution environments, like WAP, pJava and J2ME.

It ensures that the user of a MExE device is always in control of the network activity originating from an application executing inside it.
