The device also offers the lowest noise floor in the digital amplifier industry, with as low as 10uV of output noise, creating astonishingly clear sound.
'Texas Instruments is the clear leader in the digital amplifier and Class D audio circuit market', said Will Strauss, founder and Principal Analyst, Forward Concepts, who recently released a report entitled 'Emerging markets for Class D power amplification'.
'One of the key reasons for TI's success in this market is innovation, and the TAS5518 is a great example of TI driving advanced technology, once again raising the bar in audio performance'.
The new TAS5518 audio processor operates in conjunction with TI's power stages including the TAS5182, which was the industry's first all-digital power solution with up to 100W output drive.
The TAS5182 is designed with an architecture that uses external, discrete MOSFETs for the H-bridge and achieves efficiency of more than 95% in high-power amplification.

With its efficient architecture and thermal PowerPad package, the TAS5182 exceeds low heat loss and low power requirements, enabling A/V receivers to be reduced to one-quarter the height of previous systems.
'The TAS5518 is a great complement to our industry-leading product line of digital amplifier solutions', said Jeff Akgul, Home Digital Audio Business Manager at TI.
'Sound performance is one of the key differentiators in this market, and achieving this level of clarity, while minimising size and cost, is a benefit we are happy to pass along to our customers'.
The TAS5518 and TAS5182 are based on TI's PurePath Digital technology, which allows consumer electronics manufacturers to build completely digital, end-to-end audio products with cutting-edge sound reproduction and the most lifelike sound in a compact form factor.
Reproducing movie soundtracks or music exactly the way the artist intended, PurePath Digital technology offers the best in high-end digital entertainment to the everyday consumer.
PurePath Digital technology complements other TI digital and analogue products that support audio applications, such as digital signal processors (DSPs), switch mode power management devices, headphone amplifiers, digital interface and audio data converters.
The TAS5518 digital audio processor is now available in volume.
Packaged in a 64-pin TQFP, the device is priced at $7.95 each in quantities of one thousand.
The TAS5182 power stage is available today at $5.30 in quantities of one thousand.
