Audio power amp
sounds cool to integrate
The TPA2008D2 is the industry's first 5V filter-free Class-D audio power amplifier with integrated DC volume control
The new device will cut both costs and time for designers of LCD flat panel displays, LCD projection systems and powered speakers. The gain of the TPA2008D2, which affects the output power level, is controlled by a DC voltage applied to the volume pin. At full power the TPA2008D2 will drive 6W (3W x 2) into 3ohm speakers with no external heatsink, making it ideal for popular 15 to 17in LCD TVs and multifunction monitors.

Eliminating the external heatsink is made possible from its high efficiency of more than 80%.
The efficiency reduces heat in the system and reduces current requirements from the power supply.
The device's lower heat and current requirements are complimented by its superior sound quality.
Half power total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) is a mere 0.045% at 1kHz and the noise floor is a benchmark for Class-D amplifiers at -80dBV.
The low THD+N and noise floor help ensure a clean, pure signal is heard at the speaker.
The TPA2008D2 Class-D audio amplifiers are available now from Texas Instruments and its authorised distributors.
The TPA2008D2 comes in a standard PowerPAD surface mount 24-pin thin scale small outline package (TSSOP).
Suggested resale pricing in quantities of 1000 start at $1.80.
