Criterion Software is working with Texas Instruments to integrate optimised solutions into its RenderWare Mobile client technology and toolchain

RenderWare Mobile games and multimedia middleware will be delivered to OEMs and games developers using TI's powerful wireless OMAP application processors, and the combination of the two companies expertise will maximise graphics performance and gaming capabilities and deliver a high quality gaming experience for mobile device users.

RenderWare Mobile comprises a feature set capable of supporting existing and emerging mobile and embedded 3D graphics standards, including OpenGL (ES) and Java Mobile 3D, within a small footprint.

This embedded functionality will complement the high performance, power efficient OMAP processor family, which is already the solution of choice for today's leading Smartphone and PDA manufacturers.

In addition, this co-operation will provide customers of OMAP processors the opportunity to build developer programs supported by Criterion's game development tool chain and worldwide support network to accelerate the delivery of high-quality game and other multimedia content for their devices.

'Criterion is bringing mobile platforms into the mainstream of the games industry by supporting content developers and manufacturers with best of breed games and multimedia middleware', said David Lau-Kee, CEO Criterion.

'Criterion is uniquely placed in the gaming industry value web to ensure that mobile gaming on OMAP devices reaches its fullest potential'.

'The mobile gaming market is a huge revenue opportunity for operators and OEMs', stated TI's Paul Werp, Worldwide Director of Marketing for the OMAP platform.

'The performance and power efficiency of the OMAP platform provides enormous potential for mobile gaming.

In working closely with Criterion, we can ensure that our customers' investment in the OMAP platform is visible to the consumer with the delivery of higher quality games and multimedia content'.
