TI's DOCSIS 2.0 solution has received certification from Cable Television Laboratories in the first DOCSIS 2.0 certification wave

A technology milestone enabling cable operators to deliver tiered and advanced high-speed Internet services to customers became a reality today as Texas Instruments received DOCSIS 2.0 certification from Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs) in the first DOCSIS 2.0 certification wave. TI's DOCSIS 2.0 solution, which supports both advanced time division multiple access (A-TDMA) and synchronous code division multiple access (S-CDMA) modes, will enable operators to create and support new services for both home and business use for services such as video conferencing and peer-to-peer applications over cable.

In addition to the TI DOCSIS 2.0 certification, a TI-based cable modem using TI's DOCSIS 2.0-based solution was also DOCSIS 1.1 certified.

With the success in certification wave 24, TI extends its already unprecedented DOCSIS and Euro-DOCSIS certification pass rate success.

The new DOCSIS 2.0 specifications will enable cable modems to deliver increased upstream throughput from the end user to the Internet, as well as give the network operator the ability to offer symmetrical bidirectional data services.

'We are very excited about passing DOCSIS 2.0 in Wave 24, the first DOCSIS 2.0 certification wave', said Brett Butler, General Manager of TI's cable broadband communications group.

'Our certified solution enables TI to continue to provide our customers with the most proven and complete solution available today, helping speed their time to market'.

TI's vast experience and robust testing methodologies continue to give TI the quickest time-to-certification for new designs and allow customers to consistently deploy products based on TI's 'field hardened' software and hardware.

TI's DOCSIS-certified solutions include highly optimised silicon, hardware and an open software architecture enabling customers to integrate their own customised and personalised value-added features.

TI's cable broadband communications technology leadership in building DOCSIS-certified solutions is a clear demonstration of TI's focus on delivering production quality system solutions and commitment to providing innovations to accelerate the deployment of broadband.
