Online groups discuss DSP applications
Linking the DSP design community through an easy-to-use online tool, Texas Instruments has set up five discussion groups on TMS320 DSP-based silicon, software, tools and systems
Linking the DSP design community through an easy-to-use online tool, Texas Instruments has set up five discussion groups to allow designers to tap directly into the wealth of expertise shared by more than 50,000 TI DSP developers, more than 500 third parties and thousands of universities that know and use TI products.

Webcast to address wireless power optimisation
Texas Instruments and Avnet Electronics Marketing will present a live Analog eLab webcast on 'Optimising power in low-power wireless systems' on 12th April 2006
Initially the groups will cover five discussions on TMS320 DSP-based silicon, software, tools and systems: high performance design with TMS320C6000 DSPs; power efficient design with TMS320C5000 DSPs; control optimised design with TMS320C2000 DSPs; digital media application design with TMS320DMx DSP and TMS320DSCx products; and 'Which DSP?
What DSP' for engineers just starting their system designs.
TI's new groups make it simple for engineers to find the exact information they seek.
The supporting technology features a sophisticated search engine that gives users flexible means to find specific threads of conversation.
In this way, designers can maximise their time, quickly and easily finding answers and facilitating product development.

Designers can 'opt in' to certain threads and receive e-mails notifying them of new postings that are of interest.
Later they can 'opt out' and add other topics of importance that present themselves.
TI's discussion groups also give designers choices on how, when and where they want to receive information.
As in other groups, discussions can be followed in real time.
TI's host server also gives participants access to discussions in offline news groups.
They can view the new items, prepare a response, and then send once they are back on line.
They can also review discussions remotely via PDA technology.
'We wanted to give the DSP community access to the network of design experts that have shared the experience of working with TI devices in a multitude of end equipments', said Scott Roller, DSP Internet strategy manager, TI.
'The discussion groups add a new dimension to TI's customer support infrastructure by allowing peer-to-peer interaction on the topics our customers find useful and relevant to their design.
'These discussion groups will be nimble enough to grow to include new topics as we move along', said Roller.
'As the number of users increases and more threads are being answered, new groups will evolve, such as additional application-specific discussions, that add value to the forum and depth to the level of DSP expertise'.
Texas Instruments has developed the industry's most comprehensive support network.
Built on the premise that a supplier should be a continuous resource to its customers, TI's support encompasses four major areas: robust, easy to navigate online resources, relevant training, comprehensive technical information and access to global network of experts.
