The CO710 iChip Internet controller from Connect One is the smallest and most powerful member of the iChip family.

The CO710 iChip Internet controller from Connect One is the smallest and most powerful member of the iChip family.

Measuring only 10 x 10mm and packaged in a 121 contact micro ball grid array (uBGA), the CO710 offers the highest level of functionality and expandability of any existing iChip.

Delivering three times as much bandwidth (up to 10Mbit/s) depending on connectivity, environment and protocols used and costing at up to 15% less than its predecessor, the iChip Internet controller is highly suited for applications such as video monitoring, medical imaging, home networking gateways, multimedia security and financial transactions.

The CO710 is an updateable Internet controller chip which eliminates time, cost and complexity to connect devices to the Internet and IP networks by offloading Internet connectivity tasks from the host processor.

The CO710 is ideal for integrators looking for connectivity applications requiring large production volume, high bandwidth and small size.

To ensure low power consumption the core operates at 1.8V and I/Os operate at 3.3V.

The iChip Internet controller further reduces power consumption via a sleep mode.

TDC's Managing Director Jerry Sandys comments: "The size and reduced power features of the CO710 bring the capabilities of the iChip to a far wider audience.

More handheld and battery-powered designs now become feasible with this new device".
