The A1032 advanced telematics platform offers numerous features, including 1m GPS accuracy and a high level of sensitivity for processing even very weak satellite signals.

This latter feature enables the use of internal GPS antennas, which reduces installation costs and precludes the need for antennas mounted in exposed locations.

Driving communications in the A1032 is Sony Ericsson's GM 47 dual-band GSM/GPRS modem.

Because the modem has both EGSM (900/1800MHz) and GSM (850/1900MHz), it is suitable for markets with both systems.

Furthermore, its temperature range lies noticeably above the standard range for most GSM modems at -30 to +75C.

Wiedemann also added: "The A1032 is really the standard means to continuous control".

"The platform is designed for automotive applications and meets their particular security requirements".

"Of course the latest GPS and communication capabilities are included, too".

Due to features such as a wide input range of 6 to 36V DC, optoisolated digital inputs, mechanical relays and high side power switches, the A1032 is ideally suited for automotive environments.

Security requirements are fulfilled with features that include tilting sensor, battery backup and low-battery detection options, reverse polarity protection and overvoltage protection.

If additional I/O is required, such as CANbus, RFID, Bluetooth or others, the platform offers an I/O connector for an additional extension board.

This capability opens doors to a wide variety of applications.

Because standard Internet protocols are supported on the A1032 platform, operational costs are reduced and integration into existing client/server-based applications is convenient and easy.

A message and command set using XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol), UDP/IP (User Datagram Protocol) or TCP/IP (Transfer Control Protocol) takes care of the information exchange and platform configuration.

The information received from the A1032 will typically go into a database for further processing and analysis.

Positioning data could, for example, be displayed in a map, and activated input could start an alarm plan.

Furthermore, FTP can be used to upload a complete set of collected data, eg once per day, which can then be sent via e-mail in the form of a readable message to a particular recipient.
