The Electro-Tyte RC composite battery stand combines proven composite technology with novel design, optimising flexibility and integrating acid spill containment for the Round Cell telecomms battery.

The new Electro-Tyte RC composite battery stand combines proven composite technology with an innovative new design, optimising flexibility and integrating acid spill containment for the Round Cell telecomms battery.

The Electro-Tyte RC composite battery stand not only improves on the original Round Cell composite battery stand with its integrated acid spill containment capability, but it also exceeds virtually every aspect of conventional metal battery stands with a proprietary design that optimises flexibility, increases safety and substantially reduces installation costs.

This patented design combines lightweight building blocks and proven composite technology with an integrated spill containment system that strictly conforms to the intent of all domestic and international spill containment regulations.

Designed for central office environments, the Electro-Tyte RC composite battery stand has an expected lifetime exceeding 70 years - as long as that of the Round Cell telecomms battery it is designed to contain.

The lightweight, thermoset composite stand is more durable than metal stands, non-conductive, and resistant to corrosion, chemicals and acid.

The Electro-Tyte RC composite battery stand has eliminated the need for costly and difficult-to-install traditional spill-control systems by tightly integrating acid spill containment into the design and removing barriers to battery access and maintenance associated with traditional spill containment systems.

The large spill pan has a capacity that exceeds the amount of an entire battery's liquid electrolyte.

This novel design prevents hazardous contact with electrolyte and makes it easy for a single person to handle the cleanup of acid spills and the replacement of spill pans.

Additional acid neutralising absorption material is available and may be added to the pan on customer request.

"Comparing material cost alone, our customers could save 10% or more over the cost of traditional solutions".

"If you compare material cost and installation time, the total savings could be 50% or more of a metal stand and spill containment system", said Sabi Varma, Vice President of Marketing and Business Operations at Tyco Electronics Power Systems.

"The stand's extended life expectancy alone eliminates the costs of expensive removal and replacement every ten years for traditional spill containment".

Without seismic bracing, Electro-Tyte RC stand is Zone 0 certified.

NEBS Zone IV seismic anchoring is achieved with tension bars to secure the stand to the floor at all junction points and corners, and only one 16mm anchor is necessary for each point.

The Electro-Tyte RC composite battery stand is available now.

List pricing starts at approximately $4800 for a standard 48V configuration in a nonseismic application.
