UK Trade and Investment's TechnologyWorld05 on 17th May in Cambridge will bring 100 international technologists to meet with UK companies. The event will be held at the Welcome Genome Campus in Hinxton Hall. One of the international technologists, Takeshi Okamoto, a Manager from the Corporate R and D Planning Division of Matsushito, said: 'I usually visit around 10 exhibitions every year and this is the first time I'm attending an event in the UK'.
'TechnologyWorld05 is of special interest because I am looking for R and D partners, especially in the areas of MEMS and nanotechnology'.
Hideki Segawa of Ricoh's Technology Strategy Centre in Yokohama, said: 'The event offers the first opportunity to meet with a cross-section of relevant high technology businesses at a single event'.
'I know Britain has advanced technology that could be of interest but recently I have not had an opportunity to see any'.
'I am mainly interested in how we can use new technology to add value for the customer'.
The event is based on pre-arranged meetings between prospective international partners in the key technology sectors of healthcare, security and the environment.
Over 100 overseas executives will have booked approximately 400 private partnering meetings with UK participants using specially developed facilities on the event website.
A current list of overseas representatives for the partnering meetings is on the website www.technologyworld05.com where UK visitors can register for free.
There will also be a full seminar programme at the event.
Speakers include Dr Stewart Davies, Chairman of the Science and Innovation Council for the East of England and former head of BT's research, technology and IT operations businesses and Professor Phillip Gray, Director of Quadro Consulting, on the process of bringing new ideas to market.
