Lightening protectors spread
to WiFi market
Transtector has expanded its ALPU series of advanced lightning protection units
The company developed its original ALPU a year ago for customer DMC Stratix. Since then, Transtector has developed five more configurations and two platforms for Proxim Corp, Interwave, Dragonwave and most recently Motorola. The ALPU units protect antenna basestation locations as well as the connecting equipment points for today's rapidly growing fixed wireless and Wi-Fi equipment deployments.

All outdoor and outdoor-connected equipment is susceptible to lightning damage on the power and signal side despite protection that may already be built-in.
Additionally, an ALPU can assist companies in providing the most direct path to ground and helps carriers to comply with NEC 830.30.
"The experience we acquired over the years in protecting communications sites has served us well for fixed wireless", said Mark Hendricks, Director of Engineering.
"The ALPU is designed by understanding the need to be customised to customer deployment protocols, affordability in the context of lower cost equipment and the need for superior reliability and robust capability".
