The IRISMPS5 is a flyback power supply reference design for the IRIS4015 integrated switcher
The reference design is a universal input, 15V, 6A output AC/DC power supply that can streamline switch mode power supply (SMPS) designs used in products such as LCD monitors, CD/DVD players, fax machines, printers and set-top boxes. IR's IRIS Series integrated switchers are ideal for designers seeking a simple and efficient power stage, reducing PCB area and component count by 25% at the same or better efficiency than discrete-based circuits.

The new reference design implements all the features of the IRIS4015, including overvoltage and overtemperature protection with variable overcurrent protection.
By offering system designers a complete power solution, more time can be spent on other critical factors outside of the power stage.
The IRIS Series integrated switchers combine a low-loss, fully characterized avalanche energy HEXFET power MOSFET with a dual-mode voltage and current control IC in a single package.
Stray inductance from the PCB and discrete packages is reduced, delivering lower switching losses at higher frequencies.
In-circuit testing demonstrates that IRIS Series integrated switchers improve efficiency by up to 1.5% compared with a discrete solution with equivalent MOSFET ratings and up to 4.5% compared with competing devices with equivalent ratings.
