Award recognises industrial excellence

The Electronics Assembly Systems Division of Siemens's Automation and Drives Group has won second place in the 2006 Best Factory/Industrial Excellence Award.

The Electronics Assembly Systems Division (EA) of Siemens's Automation and Drives Group (A and D) has won second place in the competition for the "Best Factory/Industrial Excellence Award 2006".

The contest was hosted by France's Insead business school and the Production Management Department of Germany's WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management.

With its Siplace machines, Siemens EA is the world's leading manufacturer of surface mount technology machines and solutions.

The Siemens division received top grades in the categories operational strategy, product development, supply chain management, service management and partner management.

The Industrial Excellence Award 2006 will be presented on 10th and 11th October during a management conference of Insead and WHU in Nuremberg.

No name just one example, Siemens EA was able to shorten its cycle time to less than half within two years.

"With the global deployment of productivity-increasing methodologies and a shared knowledge base, we can increase our productivity by at least 10% each year", confirm Gunter Schindler and Jorg Cwojdzinski, who are in charge of production and logistics.
