RS will launch more than 400 new components from leading wireless manufacturers on Stand 630 at the Embedded Systems Show on 11th and 12th October 2006.

Recognising the growing significance of wireless technology, RS successfully launched its wireless portfolio in May of this year, with products designed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing industrial machine to machine communications market.

The initial offering included modules, development boards, evaluation kits and antennas for the most popular wireless technologies: RFID, AM/FM, ZigBee, Bluetooth, W-LAN, GPRS and GPS.

Enabling RS to provide engineers with a comprehensive range of cutting-edge wireless technology solutions, the company is adding to this a selection of over 400 wireless components from some of the leading companies in this field.

Among the products in the new RS range are: Texas Instruments' 2.4GHz Zigbee RF transceiver designed specifically for low-power, low-voltage RF applications in the unlicensed ISM band; TI's CC1010 RF SoC, which integrates a very low-power 300-1000MHz RF transceiver and a 8051-compatible microcontroller that has 32Kbyte in-system programmable Flash, hardware DES encryption/decryption and a three-channel 10bit ADC; Cypress Semiconductor's CYWUSB6953 Flash microcontroller, which features a highly integrated 2.4GHz direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) radio SoC; pin-, variable capacitance- and band switching diodes, as well as single- and dual-gate MOSFETs, VDMOS and PNP wideband transistors, silicon FETs, an RFID transponder interface and a range of amplifiers manufactured by NSX; chip-type SMD baluns, Gigafil dielectric filters and various chip multilayer filters from Murata; 2.4GHz short-range, low-power transceivers designed for low-cost, simple point-to-point and star network applications from Freescale; and from Atmel, various amplifiers, an AM/FM front-end IC, a Bluetooth front-end, an FM IF system, UHF and 3D receivers, and a wideband TX/RX.

The wide range of display solutions which RS launched alongside its wireless portfolio in May will also be available to view at the show.

Comprising TFT and electroluminescent panels, LCD graphics and character modules for unit level design, through to industrial monitors and fully embedded display solutions for system level design, the range provides engineers with a comprehensive choice of display and interface solutions for a variety of applications.

When the prevalence of displays and wireless devices in the electronics industry is combined with the demand for more feature-rich devices and time to market pressures, designers need the services that RS can supply: high-service levels, no minimum order quantities and next day delivery on a massive range of stock.

The new RoHS environmental regulations also require that designers are assured of product compliance before use.

RS offers a complete guarantee on tens of thousands of components and a full online service, which includes a parts checker and guidelines.
