Small device simplifies wireless connections
Round Solutions has released a matchbox-sized module that communicates with the WLAN router at 54 or 11Mbit/s (802.11 g+b).
An increasing number of devices can send and receive data via TCP/IP and thus over the internet.
So far, however, a hardwired communications path realised with Ethernet was usually necessary to achieve such an exchange.
This often led to quite complicated and thus expensive line installations.
Round Solutions has released a matchbox-sized module that communicates with the WLAN router at 54 or 11Mbit/s (802.11 g+b).
Both stacks for TCP/IP and/or UDP are integrated as well as the server for HTTP and e-mail.
Because the module is programmable using Basic, specific applications can be integrated quickly and simply.
In addition, software interfaces are available for Windows CE and Linux.
The heart of the module is the machine interface.
It suits the processing of standardised serial data streams like SPI, I2C, UART and CAN.
Eight I/O ports can be defined by the user.
WLAN communication is protected by WEP or WPA coding.
Round Solutions also offers a version that allows the connection of an external radiator.
