With a 10GHz -3dB roll-off point, two new reed relays from Rhopoint Components offer an ideal way for switching low-level RF signals, and high-speed logic.

These leadless relays employ a patented ball-grid-array design and provide a 50ohm RF impedance throughout the device.

All relays in this series allow the designer to switch or pass signals with wider bandwidth and faster rise times than alternative technologies: this of particular importance for mixed-signal IC testers.

The relay is available in two versions, one with a single switch element, and the other with four.

Both versions are available with either 3.3 or 5V coils as standard.

On the four-switch version crosstalk between channels is kept to a minimum by a combination of coaxial and magnetic shielding, giving and adjacent channel crosstalk of -25dB at 11GHz.

The single-switch version occupies 58mm2 of PCB space, and the four-switch version 140mm2.
