The China Academy of Telecommunication Research has selected a system from Rohde and Schwarz for certification in the field of radio resource management.

The China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR) has selected a system from Rohde and Schwarz for certification in the field of radio resource management (RRM).

The R and S CRTU-M and CRTU-S protocol testers and the R and S FSU spectrum analyser are being added to the R and S CRTU-W protocol tester, which is already in use at CATR.

As a result, Rohde and Schwarz has now provided the Chinese regulatory authority with a complete RRM system with a full set of validated test cases.

A typical RRM test scenario confronts the mobile phone with a change of radio signal.

The test subsequently determines how long the mobile phone takes to detect the better cell and to make the change.

For RRM certification, CATR opened an invitation for tenders in summer 2005 and has now decided in favour of the system from Rohde and Schwarz.

In 2003, Rohde and Schwarz won a contract from MTNet, a CATR laboratory, and delivered the R and S TS8950-W test system.

The new co-operation with CATR - through its MTNet and CTTL labs - further strengthens Rohde and Schwarz's position on the Chinese mobile radio market.

The R and S TS8950 as well as the RRM system are suitable for certification in accordance with the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and the PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB) and are available from Rohde and Schwarz.
