In combination with special test software, the R and S CRTU protocol tester can now be used for certifying MMS-compatible mobile phones.

In combination with special test software, the R and S CRTU protocol tester can now be used for certifying MMS-compatible mobile phones.

Rohde and Schwarz is the only company to offer such an all-in-one solution to test houses and manufacturers of mobile radio equipment.

The test software performs the specified MMS test cases.

As the software is independent of the access technology, it can be used both for GSM and WCDMA.

State-of-the-art mobile phones have long been able to transmit more than just text messages - they can also handle pictures and video sequences.

In the past, mobile phones from different manufacturers sometimes displayed picture formats differently or replayed video sequences erroneously when exchanging multimedia message service (MMS) messages.

To correct this problem, all MMS-compatible mobile phones must now comply with uniform standards before being approved for the market.

By using special test software from Rohde and Schwarz, the tests specified by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) standardisation committee can be performed.

The MMS test cases run in conjunction with the R and S CRTU protocol tester and are thus available for various access technologies.

Rohde and Schwarz is the only company to offer an all-in-one software and hardware solution for MMS certification tests.

The test software can be used in combination with the CRTU or alternatively on a PC or laptop connected to the instrument.

Applications such as MMS run on the operating system of the mobile user equipment and are connected via an interface.

The test software for the MMS application checks, for example, whether the interface functions properly and whether the display quality of received data, such as pictures, meets requirements.

The test cases for this "application enabler testing" have been specified by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).

The MMS test software can now be ordered from Rohde and Schwarz either with or without the R and S CRTU protocol tester.
