A new option for WiMAX (worldwide interoperability for microwave access) expands the range of functions of the high-end R and S FSQ signal analyser.
New application firmware performs TX measurements on OFDM signals in accordance with the 802.16-2004 standard.
The test solution records the signal that is 1.5 to 28MHz wide and analyses it.
The test solution subsequently displays the results in a table or graph, enabling users to exactly characterise the modulation quality and other parameters such as adjacent-channel power or spectrum mask.
Moreover, the R and S FSQ offers outstanding characteristics in spectrum analysis.
Depending on the model, the R and S FSQ can be used for frequencies up to 40GHz.
The R and S FSQ is equipped with many useful additional functions as standard.
The R and S SMATE 200A vector signal generator is designed especially for applications in production.
The setting times of less than 2ms for frequency and level variations are extremely short.
Another exceptional feature of the instrument is its outstanding signal quality, with single sideband phase noise of typically 135dBc (carrier offset 20kHz, frequency 1GHz, measurement bandwidth 1Hz).
As an automatic test equipment (ATE) model, the R and S SMATE 200A is based on the successful two-path R and S SMU 200A vector signal generator.
Like the R and S SMU 200A, the R and S SMATE 200A can accommodate up to two independent signal generators in four height units.
As the generator is designed for remote control, it contains interfaces for GPIB (IEC625/IEEE488) and for Gigabit Ethernet.
The front panel is reduced to a minimum and all connectors are located at the rear of the instrument.
Many network operators recognise the potential of the new DVB-H digital TV standard.
This DVB-T expansion enables multimedia content to be efficiently transmitted to mobile receivers.
The DVB-H-compatible product portfolio from Rohde and Schwarz supports the development of these new services.
The digital R and S NX7000 transmitter family and the R and S DIP010 data inserter have been upgraded to integrate DVB-H into transmission operations.
DVB H-compatible T and M equipment includes the R and S SFU broadcast test system, the SFL-T TV test transmitter, the DVRG DTV recorder generator, the R and S DVM for MPEG-2 monitoring and analysis and the EFA test receiver.
Rohde and Schwarz already supports the introduction of HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) with a complete range of test and measurement solutions.
Tests on mobile radio equipment can be performed using the R and S CRTU-W protocol tester as well as the R and S CMU200 universal radio communication tester, which is the world's first radiocommunication tester that can handle the new standard.
The R and S SMU200A vector signal generator, the FSQ vector signal analyser and the FSP and FSU spectrum analysers, as well as the FSMU basestation tester and the CMU300 universal radio communication tester, are also equipped with HSDPA functionalities.
Furthermore, Rohde and Schwarz is currently upgrading its conformance test systems to comply with the new specification.
Rohde and Schwarz is the first company worldwide that already offers the first five test scenarios for DARP (downlink advanced receiver performance), a method that increases transmission rates by reducing interference in mobile radio networks.
The R and S TS895xG RF test family supports the DARP test scenarios.
Rohde and Schwarz is involved in compiling the test specification for DARP, which is expected to be completed in April 2005.
In conjunction with a software expansion, the R and S CRTU-G/W protocol tester can be used to certify MMS-compatible mobile radio equipment.
Sending pictures and video sequences via state-of-the-art mobile radio devices has been possible for a long time.
Up to now, when swapping MMS (multimedia message service) messages, mobile phones of different manufacturers may have had different formats or the replay of video sequences may have been erroneous.
Rohde and Schwarz is the only company on the market that now offers test houses and mobile phone manufacturers a single-source, all-in-one solution for these certification tests, thus proving its leading position as manufacturer of certification testers.
The test software performs the MMS test cases defined by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) in collaboration with the Global Certification Forum (GCF) in accordance with the specification.
