Swiss Army to adopt software-defined radio

The R and S M3TR radios replace the SE-229 radios of the Swiss Army and thus define the new SE-239 standard.
Software defined radios of the R and S M3TR family from Rohde and Schwarz combine various complex radio techniques in one instrument.
They can be expanded by means of software and support a wide range of radio services.
During the last year, several products were evaluated in lab and field tests.
The VHF/UHF version of the R and S M3TR also impressed users during its use at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
One of the main reasons that Armasuisse selected the R and S M3TR is that it is a software defined radio (SDR) that is already available on the market and is already being used successfully in over ten nations.
In addition to the fact that the radio meets all technical requirements, the maintenance concept presented by Roschi Rohde and Schwarz also played a large role in the selection of the R and S M3TR.
In particular, Armasuisse was impressed by the on-site technical expertise, proximity to customer and cost-efficient service strategy.
With the R and S M3TR, the Swiss Air Force will have a reliable and future-oriented radio system of the latest generation.
Roschi Rohde and Schwarz, the Swiss representative of Rohde and Schwarz, will supply the radios over the course of the next year.
