Reed Exhibitions has acquired the Componex show from Electronics Today magazine

Reed Exhibitions has taken over India's leading event for electronics manufacturing, acquiring the Componex show from Electronics Today magazine. Componex is the leading regional trade show for electronics components and electronic production technology, and has been serving the electronics industry in India for nearly 15 years.

The 2007 edition took place in February, attracting over 20,000 visitors and 826 exhibitors drawn from more than 25 countries.

From 2008 the event will be branded as Componex/Nepcon, signifying that the event will benefit from membership of Reed Exhibitions' global electronics portfolio joining some of the industry's most well known events: Nepcon Shanghai and Nepcon Shenzen, Globaltronics Singapore and Nepcon UK.

Componex/Nepcon will continue to address both the production equipment and components elements of the global market.

In addition to acquiring Componex, Reed has also today signed a multi-year sponsorship deal with Electronics Today.

Under the agreement Electronics Today will continue its association with Componex by providing exclusive support and endorsement to Componex/Nepcon India, further guaranteeing the continued success of the event in the future.

Componex/Nepcon 2008 will take place in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan exhibition centre from 20th to 22nd February 2008 and will be organised by Reed Exhibitions' wholly owned business in Delhi.

Reed has been present in India since January 2006 and already operates a portfolio of six events with a team of over 20 full-time staff.

The integration of the event into the Reed Nepcon network is expected to significantly increase the level of international participation from both visitors and exhibitors to future editions.

Commenting on the acquisition, Mike Allsopp CEO of Reed Exhibitions India says: 'We are delighted to have the opportunity to acquire Componex, which is a market-leading event in an industry where India is fast becoming a world-leading player'.

'We are immensely grateful for the tremendous work Mr Swarn has done in building up the reputation of Componex over the past about 15 years, and are delighted that we will be continuing that association through our partnership with him and Electronics Today'.
