Seaweed's market-leading SeaWind OpenGL embedded graphics solutions become available for Radstone's recently announced GRA110 3U VPX PCI Express graphics accelerator

Radstone Embedded Computing and Seaweed Systems have signed an agreement that will see Seaweed's market-leading SeaWind OpenGL embedded graphics solutions become available for Radstone's recently announced GRA110 3U VPX PCI Express graphics accelerator. 'We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Seaweed, with whom we have been working for many years', said Simon Collins, Product Manager at Radstone Embedded Computing.

'We believe that the leading edge hardware performance of the GRA110 will be complemented by the advanced performance and flexibility of the SeaWind environment'.

'It will now be possible for developers in military computing to design embedded applications that rival the sophistication of the latest high-end desktop applications'.

'SeaWind has been developed for embedded graphics applications that demand the ultimate in performance and reliability', said Robert Schulman, President of Seaweed Systems.

'Providing our customers with leading edge COTS software products and support is important to us, and we're very pleased to be working with Radstone to bring the benefits of Seaweed's solutions to the 3U VPX graphics processing market'.

Radstone's GRA110 was the first graphics accelerator to be announced in the 3U VPX form factor.

Bringing desktop performance to the rugged market with its Nvidia G73 GPU (graphics processing unit) - selected for its optimum combination of power, performance and power dissipation - which is at the heart of Nvidia's GeForce 7600 graphics boards, the GRA110 supports the 16-lane PCI Express implementation, providing the maximum possible bandwidth to high performance CPUs such as Radstone's 3U VPX SBC340 single board computer.

SeaWind, Seaweed Systems' implementation of the X11 Window System, provides a fully functional environment appropriate for real-time or embedded systems.

SeaWind includes both X server-side and client-side technology and optimised support for SGI's GLX OpenGL extension for X.

SeaWind is currently an X11R6/Motif 2.0-based implementation, and its X server and client-side products can connect over the backplane, over the network, and locally.

Seaweed Systems also offers the SeaWind/178 product family of DO-178B certifiable OpenGL subset APIs for applications that are safety or mission-critical in nature.

The heart of this suite is the SeaWind/178 Core API, the first COTS offering compliant with the OpenGL SC (safety-critical) API.
